Annalise Lockhart is a writer & director, born and raised in NYC. Her work primarily lives in the horror, fantasy, and science fiction realm, with themes around bodily autonomy, Black land ownership, and transcendence.
Her debut short film, INHERITANCE, won numerous awards including Best US Short at the Palm Springs Shortfest 2021, and the Lionsgate/Starz Award for Best Speculative Fiction at BlackStar Film Festival. She was profiled in Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent film. Her short film, MIRASOL, produced in conjunction with Fuji Film US, won the Climate Justice Award at BlackStar Film Festival in 2023. Her documentary feature debut, BEYOND SURVIVAL, about the historic Domestic Violence Survivors Justice Act, premiered in September 2025 at the Imagine This Women’s Film Festival.
She is currently in development on her narrative feature debut ISLE OF BLACK, an official selection of the 2025 Tribeca Creators Market.
She has worked extensively as a 1st Assistant Director on projects such as Reservation Dogs (FX), Random Acts of Flyness (HBO), Master (Amazon), and The Assistant.
